Last night I really felt in the mood to paint. I have a large bin of sketches for future paintings. I decided to pull out a couple randomly and work on them.

New painting
I love painting faces:
(acrylic on paper with crackle finish 9" inches x 12" inches)
Most of the faces I paint are mixtures of people I have known or seen. I love trying to capture the in-between moments of a change of expression.

Inspired by Fraktur:
I have always liked the beautiful combination of Pennsylvania German and Dutch folk art. I love the way handwritten text is combined with drawings for legal documents, and for family records. I am playing with using elements of this style in some of my work, just playing around.
I also love the German Fraktur Blackletter style Fraktur. I have never been able to learn it.

I will be posting my paintings here:
I will start with some older paintings and as I make new ones I will showcase them here.
This is an acrylic painting on wood. The sides and the back are painted black. There is an old world crackle finish applied. It is sprayed with a light acrylic gloss to enhance the colors and protect the surface.
